The defense of the general director of Sputnik8, Alexander Kim, will quickly appeal the decision of the Zamoskvoretsky court to arrest the businessman, a representative of the businessman told RB.RU. The day before, the court decided to intern Kim in a pre-trial detention center until October 21 in the case of the death of eight people in the Moscow sewers.

The defense during the meeting requested a measure of milder restraint, but the court did not grant this request. Alexander Kim is charged under section 3 of art. 238 of the Criminal Code (improper provision of services) In addition, the businessman is accused of preliminary collusion with the organizers of the excursion. For these charges, Kim faces up to ten years in prison.

Kim’s defense insists that there is no talk of collusion, since the businessman never had contact with the organizers of the marches and did not know them.

When asked what arguments the investigation cited in favor of the presence of preliminary collusion, Kim’s representative told RB.RU that “there was no special argumentation on this thesis, they (the prosecution) consider it, in fact, the co-organizer of the 17.5 thousand excursions published on the Sputnik platform.

The defense also refers to the fact that, according to the offer (clause 6) published on the Sputnik8 website, route compilers are responsible for the quality and safety of routes.

The day before, the businessman’s partner, WeGoTrip co-founder Alexander Golovaty, issued an open letter in his defense, insisting on the businessman’s innocence.

On August 20, a group of eight people went on a tour of the underground Moscow. After that, a heavy downpour began, flooding the closed sewers, and people drowned.

In this case, the organizer of the march, Nikita Dubas, accused of the same charge as Kim, was also arrested. In addition, the Investigative Committee included in the list of wanted persons another person involved in the case – the general director of Avangard, Alexander Lazovsky. The UK believes that Avangard is also the organizer of the tour. Lazovsky is located in the United Arab Emirates.
