The main participants in the cyber attacks were 18-year-old Arion Kurtaj and another minor participant; Kurtaj’s autism was cited as one of the factors affecting the course of the case. Their actions showed the “inadequacy” of security measures of many large companies.
A report by the US Department of Homeland Security’s Cyber Security Council states that LAPSUS$ uses simple methods to infiltrate well-protected companies. One of the most interesting methods is to spam at night by enabling two-factor authentication, using the stress factor so that the victim accidentally gives them access.
