people from i fix it who has plenty of DIY repair manuals for various technological devices such as cell phones and computers, now he wants to get inside the classic ice cream machines McDonald’s.
As shown in a YouTube video, iFixit bought the same model of ice cream machine as McDonald’s and spent hours trying to power it up. The machine was throwing numerous error codes, which iFixit says are “nonsense, inconsistent, and seemingly random, even if you spent hours reading the manual.”
Even though the ice cream machine consists of “easily replaceable parts” such as three circuit boards, a motor, a belt, and a heat exchanger, the ice cream machine can only be repaired by its manufacturer, Taylor, under an agreement made with McDonald’s. While Kytch attempted to remedy this by creating a product to read ice cream machine error codes, iFixit reports that McDonald’s has “sent a letter to all franchise owners” directing them not to use the device.
