The European Court of Justice decided for the first time to lift the sanctions against a Russian businessman. The EU imposed personal sanctions on former Ozon CEO Alexander Shulgin in April 2022. Today the European Court of General Jurisdiction dismissed the claims of several Russian businessmen.
The European Union will lift sanctions against former Ozon CEO Alexander Shulgin. This is reflected in the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Communities, which is published on its website.
Alexander Shulgin became the first Russian businessman to have sanctions lifted. The restrictions against the former CEO of Ozon were introduced in April 2022, after which he stepped down as director of the company.
The court decided that Shulgin, after leaving the post of general director of Ozon, ceased to be an influential Russian businessman.
On Wednesday 6 September, a European court of general jurisdiction dismissed lawsuits by Russian businessmen Gennady Timchenko, Dmitry Pumpyansky, Mikhail Gutseriev and Tigran Khudaverdyan, the former CEO of Yandex, challenging the EU sanctions imposed against them.
