The launch of the H2A launch vehicle with SLIM module took place from the Tanegashima Cosmodrome. Interestingly, the launch was postponed several times due to adverse weather conditions.

SLIM is a unique device designed to test high-precision Moon landing technology. The module measures 2.4 x 2.7 meters and weighs approximately 200 kg. It is equipped with a camera to analyze the composition of lunar rocks, especially the amount of iron and other elements.

The module is expected to enter lunar orbit within three to four months and attempt to land on the lunar surface in January-February 2024.

The rocket will also launch into orbit the X-ray telescope XRISM, developed jointly with NASA and the European Space Agency.
