Estonia, after Latvia and Lithuania, has banned the entry into its territory of vehicles with Russian license plates, Interfax reports.
Starting at 10:00 a.m., vehicles with Russian Federation signs will no longer be able to enter the country. According to Interior Minister Lauri Läänemets, Estonia is introducing such measures in accordance with the EU clarification on sanctions against the Russian Federation. According to this clarification, cars with Russian license plates can no longer enter the territory of the European Union.
As the minister added, the decision was made in agreement with Latvia and Lithuania. The day before, on September 12, these countries banned the entry of Russian cars. Lithuania stated that these vehicles will be confiscated upon crossing the border.
Upon entering the border checkpoint, the Tax and Customs Department will conduct an inspection. If the car has a Russian state sign, the owner will have to cross the border without it or return to Russia.
