Satellite Internet service Starlink earned $1.4 billion in 2022, The Wall Street Journal reports.
According to the publication, this is more than $222 million in 2021, but $10.6 billion less than SpaceX predicted.
In 2015, during the Starlink presentation for decline, SpaceX said the service would earn $12 billion in 2022 and have 20 million customers. In reality, Starlink had over 1 million active subscribers last year and 1.5 million in May 2023.
The WSJ article came out simultaneously with a statement from SpaceX CEO Jonathan Hofeller. At the World Satellite conference, Business Week reported that Starlink no longer produces terminals for home communications. One terminal costs $599. [The Wall Street Journal]
