Google has announced large-scale layoffs in its hiring departments. Several hundred human resources specialists will lose their jobs: they will be laid off as part of the company’s cost reduction program.

Layoffs will occur in recruiting units around the world. The company assured that the dismissed employees will receive compensation and bonuses. The remaining team will continue to hire for important positions, such as engineers.

A Google spokesperson noted that the workload in the human resources department has decreased due to the slowdown in hiring.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Google increased its workforce by 50,000 employees, but after the end of the pandemic it began to reduce it rapidly. At the end of 2022, 190 thousand people worked at Google, and in July 2023 – no more than 181 thousand.
