South Korean manufacturer LG has announced its new 4k projector with up to 3,700 lumens. This makes the company stand out from the competition, but you pay a lot for it. The euro price is not yet known, but the dollar price tells a lot.

LG sparked demand for ultra short throw (UST) projectors with the original Cinebeam model. The newest member in this series can be called a top-notch top-notch. The term ‘short throw’ means that you can place a projector relatively close to the wall while projecting a large image. With ‘normal’ projectors and projectors, devices need more space to provide a wall or canvas image.

When we look at the new LG Cinebeam HU915QE, we see that, as the name suggests, the device can offer a 120-inch image from a distance of about eighteen centimeters. In addition, the projector offers 3,700 ANSI lumens. Since this is a sufficient amount of light, you do not need to close the curtains while using the projector. As a result, this can even replace your LG TV.

Also, LG’s new 4k projector should offer a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1. This number depends on a number of factors, such as how bright the room is. But this will be measured in an optimal situation. The 4K HDR video signal is transmitted to the wall via a three-channel laser, which is supposed to neutralize the rainbow effect (which you sometimes see when you move your eyes when looking at a projector image).

LG doesn’t mention features like Dolby Vision (for image) or Dolby Atmos (for audio) in its press release, so there’s a good chance the 4k projector will support the open standard HDR10. In addition, the device automatically adjusts its brightness according to the ambient light, and dynamic HDR tones are adjusted frame by frame. Adaptive contrast completes the offer, as the contrast is adjusted per scene.

Finally, we find LG’s webOS on the projector. This is a smart operating system also found on the company’s televisions, which provides access to video streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Apple TV+.

The projector will be available in the United States in a few weeks for as high as $6,000. It is not yet known when and at what price this model will arrive in the Netherlands.
