It provides 80 Gbps bidirectional throughput, which can be increased to 120 Gbps with Bandwidth Boost mode.
Compared to Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 5 doubles the bandwidth of PCI Express, expands Thunderbolt Networking capabilities for high-speed PC-to-PC connectivity, and meets industry standards such as USB4 V2, DisplayPort 2.1, and PCI Express Gen 4. This new connection standard is fully compatible with previous versions.
Thunderbolt 5 provides these improvements thanks to the new PAM-3 signal technology.
