Russian pharmacy chains Stolichki, Zdorov.ru, Eapteka and Dialog are facing a shortage of the antidepressant Prozac. The drug is not on shelves or in warehouses, and the last delivery was in June and the timing of the next one is unknown.
The drug is produced by the American Elli Lilly. The Ministry of Health assures that the supply of Prozac has not stopped and, in case of shortage, recommends analogues of the drug, RBC learned.
As of September 15, Prozac was available in four of the almost 2.4 thousand Moscow pharmacies connected to the Megapteka service. In St. Petersburg it is available in two out of 1.3 thousand pharmacies, in Voronezh – in five out of 346. In some regions (Novosibirsk and Kazan) the drug is not available in pharmacies.
- American Eli Lilly stopped investing in the Russian Federation and also canceled new clinical trials in March 2022 as part of anti-Russian sanctions. In addition, the manufacturer suspended the supply of non-essential medicines to the country. The company decided to transfer the Russian business to the Swiss Swixx Biopharma.
