Toncoin rose in price by almost 40% just a week after the TON Wallet began rolling out on Telegram, RBC writes with reference to CoinMerketCap.
Last week it became known that the developer of the Wallet crypto wallet, the TON Foundation, will now cooperate with Telegram. As part of the partnership, the crypto wallet will be integrated into the messaging interface and is now available to some users.
Less than a week later, Toncoin was up almost 40%, outperforming Solana. In the CoinMerketCap ranking, the coin takes ninth place. At 12:12 pm, the cryptocurrency is trading at $2.37 with a capitalization of $8 billion.
The Telegram Open Network (TON) blockchain was launched by Nikolai and Pavel Durov in 2018. Initially, the project received $1.7 billion from 175 investors, including Wimm-Bill-Dann co-founder David Yakobashvili and the billionaire Yuri Milner.
However, in 2020, Telegram abandoned TON development due to litigation with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
The TON network was supported by members of the TON Foundation community and continued its development.
Today the messenger does not directly participate in the development of the ecosystem, but periodically shows interest in it. In particular, previously, based on TON, Telegram launched the Fragment auction platform, through which you can buy a name.
