Smart fare payment in intercity rail transport will be introduced in Kazan in October. Tickets will be replaced with digital tickets and can be purchased through the app using geolocation data. The corresponding agreement on the project was signed on September 20 within the framework of the international forum Kazan Digital Week.

Fare payment technology based on geolocation will be tested in Kazan

Smart payment will be made through a mobile application based on the passenger’s geolocation data. No validators will be needed, writes RBC Tatarstan.

Kazan will be the first city in which this method of paying for tickets will be introduced in suburban railway transport. It is planned to expand the system to urban public transport.

The technology was previously tested in Yaroslavl, now it is used in Tver and is also recommended for implementation in other regions of the country.
