Apple improved the internal design of the iPhone 14 series, making repairs easier, but the ban on the use of non-original components negated these achievements, after which iFixit had to worsen the repairability rating.
iPhone 14 is now rated “not recommended.” This is especially true for large and complex repairs, such as cracks in screens and back panels. Another challenge is that Apple remotely checks the authenticity of parts by using special software to replace components. If non-conforming parts are detected, the user will receive a warning that non-original parts have been used or some basic functionality associated with a particular part has been lost.
