This means users will no longer be able to use these keys when installing to activate Windows 11. Microsoft previously offered free upgrades to Windows 10 for a year after its launch in 2015, but quietly allowed users to continue upgrading to Windows 10. even after the formal completion of the offer.

The ability to upgrade from Windows 7 and 8 to Windows 11 has now been cancelled. While it’s currently still possible to activate Windows 11 using a Windows 7 product key, it’s unclear when this feature will be removed from all versions of the operating system.
