After much anticipation and curiosity, Las Vegas Sphere opened last weekend with the concert of the band U2. Using more than a million LEDs, this experience was described as “crazy” by some participants.
With approximately 17,000 seats, the massive sphere on Sands Ave offers the “largest immersive experience on Earth.” The global stage, which is 160 meters wide and more than 110 meters high, contains 167 thousand speakers and a 16K LED screen.
Different types of visuals were shown at the U2 show, from more abstract patterns to a type of desert simulation that surrounded the audience in 360 degrees. Check out some recordings of the experience below:

What is the Las Vegas Globe?
The Las Vegas Sphere is a global arena offering entertainment experiences built by MSG and Sphere Entertainment. Works started in 2019, costing approximately US$2.3 billion (approximately R$11 billion at current prices).
On the arena’s official website, the stage’s owners describe it as “a state-of-the-art venue redefining the future of live entertainment.” The space can be used by artists of all kinds, including content creators and experts looking to create different narratives.
At the entrance, visitors meet Aura, a humanoid robot who explains how cultures, technology, science and art are interconnected throughout human history.
Las Vegas Sphere is currently showing Postcard from Earth, a riveting film directed by Darren Aronofsky (for example, Mother, Pi, Black Swan and Whale).
The official synopsis describes Postcard from Earth as “a portrait of our planet reimagined as a sci-fi experience that leverages all of the Sphere’s experiential technologies, from its largest, highest-resolution immersive display to haptic display.” seats and the auditorium climate system that stimulates all your senses.”
