However, according to CRN, John Rayfield moved from Intel to AMD. The expert previously led the development of artificial intelligence systems to speed up the operation of Meteor Lake processors.
Rayfield most recently served as Intel’s vice president and head of customer AI technology. His title at AMD is now “Corporate Vice President of AMD AI Silicon.”
It is worth noting that AMD already introduced Ryzen 7040HS (Phoenix) processors with a built-in Ryzen AI Engine accelerator at the beginning of this year. Similar Intel Meteor Lake processors will only be released in December 2023.
According to CRN, Rayfield is not the only AI expert to leave Intel. Kavita Prasad, who manages Intel’s artificial intelligence strategy on the server side, also started working at Amazon Web Services.
