The head of the Ministry of Finance supported the legalization of online trade in alcoholic beverages. According to Anton Siluanov, this has “more advantages than disadvantages.” An updated draft law on the sale of alcohol on the Internet should be submitted to the State Duma in the fall.
The Ministry of Finance supported the legalization of the trade of alcoholic beverages on the Internet. The department’s position on this issue was expressed by its head, Anton Siluanov.
“This proposal has advantages and disadvantages. I think there are more advantages if order and control over the sale is established,” said Siluanov, quoted by RIA Novosti.
Siluanov clarified that the initiative on online alcohol sales is still being discussed, there is no single position in the government on this matter.
An updated draft law on the sale of alcoholic beverages in markets should be submitted to the State Duma in the fall. The Ministry of Finance previously argued that sellers are responsible for violations of rules on the sale of alcohol in markets.
The experiment of selling alcohol on the Russian Post website should start in November. It is assumed that it will be possible to receive an order only with a passport or by verification through State Services.
