At the Blockchain Economy Summit in Dubai, Visa Vice President Akshay Chopra said that between 2021 and 2023, the company’s crypto cards processed $3 billion in transactions.

The volume of transactions made with Visa crypto cards reached $3 billion

Visa Vice President Akshay Chopra announced the company’s new achievement in the field of crypto payments from the stage of the Dubai Blockchain Economy Summit. According to him, during the period from 2021 to 2023, millions of transactions totaling more than 3 billion dollars were processed through crypto cards issued in partnership with various exchanges.

The use of cryptocurrencies as a means of paying for everyday goods, such as a cup of coffee at a coffee shop, is not yet widespread. To solve this problem, in 2021 Visa partnered with 75 of the largest exchanges, allowing them to issue cards linked to a crypto wallet balance.

According to Chopra, it is the integration of conventional payment cards with cryptocurrency exchanges that plays a decisive role in bringing the mass adoption of blockchain closer. The Visa vice president considers fast international transfers to be one of the main advantages of crypto cards. According to him, current solutions such as SWIFT and SEPA have many limitations and often cannot offer users a 24/7 service.
