The number of economic disputes in Russia involving foreign entities increased by 60% year-on-year between January and June 2023 and amounted to 10.6 thousand, Vedomosti newspaper reports citing the President of the Supreme Court (SC), Vyacheslav Lebedev.
In his words, another impressive figure is the number of lawsuits won by foreigners: 9.9 thousand cases, or 93% of victories.
In the first half of 2023, more than half (52%) of claims from foreign persons to challenge the actions, omissions and decisions of the Russian customs authorities, as well as 74% of claims for compensation for damage caused by customs. authorities were satisfied.
The Chief Justice believes that the favorable business climate is supported by a high percentage of satisfied decisions in tax disputes involving foreign investors.
Lebedev reminded the courts of the need to eliminate excessive administrative burden on companies. He cited data according to which, in the first six months, cases of administrative violations against 19% of foreign businessmen were dismissed and 11% received the lightest punishment – a warning.
In conclusion, the representative of the Supreme Court announced the guarantee of compliance with reasonable deadlines for judicial procedures in economic disputes with foreign investors. In January-June 2023, the courts of the Russian Federation accepted 86% of applications for compensation for failure to meet deadlines.
