If Apple TV+, Apple Music, Arcade, Fitness+ or iCloud aren’t enough for you, Apple’s catalog of services could soon be expanded with a new health and fitness offering. Mark Gurman from Bloombergwhich claims that Apple reorganized the wellness and fitness areas. They are now under the control of Eddie Cue, head of Apple Services. Therefore, the journalist suggests the imminent launch of what could be called Health+.
The news comes months after Jeff Williams, the company’s chief operating officer, announced he would be leaving Apple at the end of this year. The Cupertino company appears to be developing part of its strategy before this happens, and one of the most important measures is Complete restructuring of health and fitness positions and responsibilities. This way, Apple could design the Health+ service more precisely.
Specifically, Gurman said, Eddie Cue will take over leadership of the health and fitness teams that have so far relied on Williams. These will be integrated under the leadership of Sambul Desairesponsible for the company’s health sector, so Jay Blahnik, head of Fitness+, will report directly to Desai.
As for the change in responsibilities, Gurman says Craig Federighi will be responsible for overseeing the watchOS software. John Ternus, head of hardware and one of the candidates to succeed Tim Cook, will oversee hardware development for the Apple Watch.
What we know about Health+, Apple’s new health service
The truth is that this is not the first time we have received news about the possible launch of a health-related service called Health+. Gurman himself announced Apple’s intention to announce something similar in March.
However, details about Health+ are somewhat sparse. We know that the service will allow users get personalized advice on nutrition, exercise and sleepusing a specialized AI agent. However, it is not yet clear whether it will be combined with Fintess+, whether they will complement each other, or whether it will be a separate service.
Either way, Health+ is a necessary bet given that devices like the Apple Watch or AirPods have features that collect large amounts of health-related data; and some of them still do not have a useful function for the user.
All indications are that Health+ could be announced as early as next year, probably. in the spring of 2026. The price of this subscription is not yet known, but similar platforms, such as Foodnoms, cost about $40 per year. Therefore, it wouldn’t be strange if Apple’s platform was roughly the same, especially in the first months after launch.
