Jaswant Singh Chail, who was 19 at the time of his arrest, entered the walls of Windsor Castle wearing a mask and carrying a loaded, powerful crossbow. Chail claimed that he planned to kill the queen, Star Wars style, to avenge the Amritsar massacre of 1919.

Prosecutors found that Chail’s plan was significantly influenced by his long conversations with an artificially intelligent chatbot, which not only discussed but also encouraged and reinforced his intentions.

Chail is currently being held at Broadmoor maximum security hospital and will remain there until he is deemed psychologically fit to serve his sentence.
