The South Korean brand Samsung has lost its status as the leader in the Russian television market, which it held for nine years. The first place in sales, according to Fplus, is now occupied by the Chinese manufacturer Haier.
Kommersant shared the results of the Fplus study. According to analysts, at the end of the nine months of 2023, Haier occupied 11.5% of the Russian television market in units (665 thousand) and 15.3% in money (22.1 billion rubles), while that a year ago the company’s participation was 7.4%. .
Former leader Samsung only has 5.1% of the market left, while a year ago the South Korean brand owned more than a quarter of the market (25.3%). In early March 2022, the manufacturer announced the suspension of supplies to Russia due to events in Ukraine.
In addition to Haier, among the top three sales leaders in the Russian Federation are also the Chinese Xiaomi (8.3%) and Hisense (6.6%). The share of own-brand TVs from Russian companies increased in quantitative terms from 17.5 to 22.3%.
In total, television sales in Russia in the first nine months of 2023, according to Fplus, increased by 35% to 5.7 million units. A representative of M.Video-Eldorado, in an interview with Kommersant, reported an increase in sales of 40%, up to 5.8 million units and in monetary terms up to 145 billion rubles.
Experts are confident that if sanctions against Russia continue, Chinese brands Haier and Hisense will compete for leadership in the Russian market.
“If Samsung does not change its policy towards the Russian Federation, it could soon fall into oblivion, as happened with Panasonic,” said Holodilnik.ru commercial director Alexey Pogudalov.
