Change of heart will allow you to “own” Windows on Apple iPhone or iPad
Apple has once again updated and refreshed its guidelines for reviewing apps that allow PC emulators to run on the iPhone and iPad.
Things keep changing inside Apple, and now it’s PC emulators’ turn. After the rejection of UTM SE last June, The Cupertino people reorganized themselves and thought the best thing would be to update the guidelines for reviewing applications. The only thing allowed was on game emulators but now Apple to Allow PC Emulators, Even with a Pun as we will see below.
- iPhone Apps
- iPad Apps
- Take notes on iPad
- Lock iPhone apps
- Applications for editing videos
- Best apps for watching TV
- Best apps to watch football
Apple will allow “PC emulators to download games”
Special, Apple has updated Section 4.7 of its App Review Guidelines with minimal changes but important text For application developers who aim to create emulators for PC.
Applications may offer certain software (…) especially HTML5 mini-apps and mini-games, streaming games, chatbots and plugins. Additionally, retro game console applications and PC emulators may offer the ability to download games (…).
The special thing and the change comes entirely in “PC emulators”. Previously it only showed the option of console emulator apps without the word “PC”.
UTM SE is now available
We can say that UTM SE rejection opens door for Apple to fix problemsooner or later, with applications that fulfill the purpose of emulating other operating systems such as Windows, Linux and macOS. For Apple, “PC is not a console” and also the developers behind UTM SE made changes with the help of Riley Testut, the genius behind AltStore.
Apple adjusts guidelines for notarizing apps on alternative stores
According to MacRumors, Cupertino residents took the time to update notarization and more guidelines for alternative stores.
The issue in question Guidelines 4.7, 4.7.2 and 4.7.3 They are fully valid in the notarization of applications. The first of these is attributed to mini-apps, mini-games, streaming games, chatbots, add-ons and game emulators. The second is about preventing applications from “exposing platform native APIs to software without Apple’s permission”. Finally, the third prohibits sharing data and privacy permissions with “any other software within an application without the user’s permission”.
Setapp Mobile is one of the main alternative app stores for iPhone
It’s worth noting that apps from alternative stores are not subject to Apple’s rules like those on the App Store.. They just need to meet Apple’s privacy and security certification. UTM SE is one of the few apps that can be found on both the App Store and the alternative store.
No doubt, This will open the door for all kinds of emulators to come to PC. Also, macOS or another operating system will finally be able to run on iPad.
