Rising prices and gray imports have brought down sales of legal video games in Russia, the limited development of cinemas and the lack of entertainment have caused a new wave of interest in bowling and billiards clubs: we compile the main events on October 16.

In Russia, demand for the purchase of legally imported video games has fallen, but interest in bowling and billiards has increased.

  • Demand for video games officially imported to Russia has quadrupled, while the price has increased by 75%, writes RBC. Market participants blame this on counterfeit products in the markets.
  • Japanese electronics developer and infrastructure solutions provider Fujitsu has decided to liquidate its Russian legal entity. Lawyers believe that this case can become a “model” to stop the activities of large companies in the country.
  • According to 2GIS estimates, the number of billiard halls in cities with more than a million inhabitants from the beginning of 2023 to the end of August increased by 7%, to 444 points, bowling clubs – by 3%, to 105 facilities, writes Kommersant. The limited development of movie theaters and the lack of entertainment sparked a new wave of interest in bowling alleys and billiards.
  • The Ministry of Finance will start negotiations with friendly countries to update the existing agreement or sign a new one to avoid double taxation (DTT) with a standard proposal, Vedomosti reports. The basic version of DTT assumes rates on payments of dividends, interest and royalties abroad of 10%.
  • Between January and September 2023, Chinese companies exported more than 3.38 million cars. This is a 60% increase year over year.
