This technology, which has been successfully tested in space, could become an important element in the development of satellite internet and 6G networks.

The “space optical switch technology” was tested in August, when the device was sent into orbit using the Chinese Y7 launch vehicle.

The biggest advantage of this technology is that it can transmit light signals from one place to another without converting them into electrical signals, in fact it works like a mirror.

A team of scientists from the Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, under the auspices of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, announced the successful testing of this technology in space.

This breakthrough could be the starting point for the creation of next-generation communication networks and the internet based on satellite technologies.
