This two-seater car, called Stella Terra, was designed by students at Eindhoven University of Technology.

Powered by numerous solar panels on its roof, Stella Terra has a top speed of 145 km/h, a weight of only 1.2 tons and a range of at least 710 km on a sunny day.

Wisse Bos, director of Solar Team Eindhoven, said that the technology used in the vehicle is ten years ahead of the current market.

The vehicle has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, allowing it to operate in less sunny conditions but over shorter distances.

The students behind the project hope their development will inspire major car companies to create more environmentally friendly vehicles.
