IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expressed concerns about nuclear security in the region beyond the Kursk nuclear power plant. He emphasized that the situation remains potentially dangerous. Grossi assured that IAEA experts will continue their efforts to prevent nuclear accidents in the context of the ongoing conflict.

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, Yuri Shvytkin, claimed that the drone attack on the Kursk factory was approved by the USA and announced that “this could lead to a nuclear disaster.” Condemning Ukraine’s role in this incident, Shvytkin promised that Russia would respond appropriately. However, he clarified that the retaliatory measures would not be related to a similar attack on nuclear facilities.

Foreign-made components were found in the UAVs used in the attack on the Kursk nuclear power plant. The incident caused minor damage to the nuclear waste storage facility but did not affect radiation levels, which remained within safe limits.
