The platform is experimenting with a mysterious button on its app that will allow viewers to watch random videos in the Shorts section based on their preferences and viewing history.

A new feature detected in the YouTube Android application offers users a way to instantly discover content.

Tapping the play button in the bottom right corner of the screen will open random short videos; This can be especially useful when you don’t know what to watch next.

It is not yet known exactly how YouTube chooses which videos to play, but the platform’s algorithms are expected to take into account the user’s viewing history, subscriptions and liked videos.

The innovation is currently available only to a limited number of users and is not part of official YouTube experiments, which are usually announced on a dedicated support page.
