The company is developing an innovative “visual chip” that Musk says will be ready in the coming years and could restore vision to people who have lost it.
This discovery comes in response to a request from Platform X user Marcus House, whose 14-year-old son Alex suffers from a rare genetic disease that causes vision loss.
Musk confirmed that Neuralink is awaiting regulatory approval to start working with the chip.
The device, which Musk describes as the “Fitbit in the Skull,” has already received FDA approval for clinical trials. The company plans to perform a series of implant surgeries with expected revenues of hundreds of millions of dollars in the coming years.
