The company has temporarily paused the development of new features for iOS 18 and other operating systems to focus on fixing bugs and improving the performance of existing software.
The decision came after a team of engineers led by Apple’s software chief Craig Federighi discovered numerous bugs that had escaped internal testing.
All of the team’s energy was focused on fixing the deficiencies, which led to a week-long marathon to fix the problems.
Now that the pause has been lifted, developers continue to work on new features for iOS 18 and its “sibling” updates. Despite the temporary pause, no delay is expected in the release of updates next year.
