Since January 2023, Russian hotel operators have increased the cost of accommodation by 24% and their revenues by almost one and a half times. This is happening for the first time since before the 2019 crisis. The reason is the rise of domestic tourism.
Revenue per available room (RevPAR, revenue per available room) in Moscow hotels during the reporting period amounted to 5.9 thousand rubles, a year-on-year increase of 46.2%, writes Kommersant with reference to CMWP.
The growth can be seen in other cities: in St. Petersburg the figure increased by 50.3%, up to 4.4 thousand rubles per room, in Sochi – by 25%, up to 10 thousand rubles.
The growth of profitability is facilitated by an increase in the number of guests and the cost of accommodation. According to analysts, the hotel market now maintains ties with “friendly” countries, highlighting the recovery of business tourism from Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
The flow of foreign guests to hotels consists mainly of citizens of China, India, Syria and the post-Soviet space.
Previously, Cosmos Hotel Group, part of AFK Sistema, planned to engage in VIP tourism. Among the destinations are Altai, Baikal, Kamchatka, Commander and Kuril Islands, Yamal, Chukotka, etc.
