The opinion has long been established in society that Xiaomi is the TOP for its money. What if I told you that there are other manufacturers who fully justify this title?
I got my hands on the new Infinix Zero 30 5G and I was pleased with it. It fully justifies its price, taking into account its flagship characteristics.
Don’t expect me to only praise the device today. There is something to criticize him for. But overall it’s incredibly good for a mid-range device.
Go.
What’s included
In 2023, many manufacturers will continue the trend of abandoning headphones included with a smartphone. Infinix was not one of them.
The packaging of the device immediately reminded me of Tecno (not for nothing, they are part of the same holding) – just as bright and massive. It feels like there is a lot of valuable stuff waiting for you inside.
The case with the smartphone contains a USB-C charging cable, a 68W power adapter, a simple silicone transparent case and documentation.
The design is unusual, the camera is simply huge
The company is positioning this smartphone as a mid-class device, but with powerful solutions from top flagships. The same is true in design, although not everywhere.
The main frame is plastic. The back panel is textured, made like eco-leather (only in the green version). Due to the matte finish, it generally does not collect fingerprints and is not scratched. In any case, during testing I did not notice such changes.
There are only three body colors available: purple, green and gold. Personally, I miss some more masculine color, black or dark results, but that’s okay.
The performance trend should not be squareness. The outermost device is rounded, due to which it fits well in the hand, even taking into account its dimensions. The transition of the area from the body to the screen takes place small “thread” – I don’t know why it was done this way and not smoothly, but, judging by my experience, this does not affect the connection of the device.
The thickness here is only 7.9 mm. The lid rocker and key lock are located on the right side, a standard solution for Android smartphones.
At the lower limit, the slot for two SIM cards is limited. There is no support for memory cards, but this is not so bad. Personally, I still have the basic 256 GB (I can’t even imagine how to get 128 GB on an iPhone).
A USB-C charging port, microphone, and speaker are also recommended. In general, there are two speakers here, the second is located in the upper part, which creates a stereo effect.
The sound of the speakers is quite decent, they do not require bass and produce decent quality sound. The only thing is that it seemed to me that the conversational (also the second for stereo) speaker sounds 1.5 times quieter, which causes a slight imbalance when listening to sound.
There is no powerful water protection. The gadget is protected according to the standard IP53that is, he is not afraid of rain, but it’s better not to get into it in the pool.
For additional protection, a complete case is provided. And also a film with an oleophobic coating is already glued to the screen, so you don’t have to bother with additional accessories for the first time.
Here is fast light 144 Hz
The Infinix Zero 30 5G features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixels. His refresh rate is 144 Hzwhich is not so common in smartphones in general, not to mention the middle class.
Frequency is adjustable. You can set 60, 120 and 144 Hz.
There is a controversial decision. The gadget has a “waterfall screen”, which may not be to everyone’s liking due to the fact that it extends beyond the edge of the device. But it’s nice to swipe from the edge of such a display. Plus, it is possible to adjust the edge sensitivity to avoid false touches.
The screen itself takes up 92.7% of the area in front of the panel.
Overall, I didn’t have any problems with this display. Even taking into account its shape, it is comfortable to use, the picture is juicy due to AMOLED. The cutout, by the way, resembles the animation of the Dynamic Island from the iPhone 14/15, but it is made in the form of a small number of connectors, and not an “island”.
As for the fingerprint scanner, it is mounted under a printed display, ultrasonic. Done with lightning speed, no errors occur during scanning. However, nothing unusual, but I like the solution.
Inexpensive and famous
Infinix Zero 30 5G performance is driven by an external chip Mediatek Dimensity 8020. In terms of its characteristics, it resembles the two-year-old Dimensity 1100, but has been slightly improved in some aspects.
The device is equipped with 12 GB of RAM. If desired, it can be increased to 21 GB with an additional 9 GB of memory configuration. I noticed that almost all manufacturers are already targeting 20 GB of RAM. Except for Apple, of course.
The gadget runs out of the box running Android 13 with the proprietary XOS shell. And I can’t help but say how similar it is to iOS, especially in Command centre. Gesture control is also available from iOS (there is also a standard one via buttons), as everyone else already does. As an iPhone owner, I like this decision.
As for the processor, four Cortex-A78 (2.6 GHz) and four Cortex-A55 (2.0 GHz) cores are integrated inside it. In benchmarks it scores a large number of points, and in games it allows you to spend time comfortably.
Tested PUBG, Call of Duty Mobile and Genshin Impact. In all cases, the gadget Works great on the highest resources and with the highest refresh rates. Except that CoD doesn’t yet have ultra-settings, but this is normal for new devices.
At the same time, it does not heat up as much as expected. Even after half an hour of playing, I felt comfortable holding the smartphone in my hands.
Overall, I expected a worse result than what I got. This is a case where expectations even lowered reality, and this is very pleasant.
Good 108 MP camera included
It has long been the case that all Android manufacturers are stuffing their gadgets with cameras with billions of megapixels, and the image quality is not getting any better. In the case of Infinix Zero 30 5G, the situation is different.
It shoots well during the day and in average low light.
There are three cameras installed here: a main 108 MP, an ultra-wide-angle 13 MP and an additional 2 MP. The last thing is to create deeper imaging and AI.
There is no telephoto, there is 3x digital zoom. But due to the large number of megapixels, the cropping module is generally adequate and the picture is not flooded with a large number of terrible pixels. There is phase detection autofocus, which works quickly.
The cool thing about the camera is that it’s not only electronic, but also optical image stabilization.
Thanks to this, you can take photos normally even at arm’s length, nothing will be smeared.
The front camera is also powerful – 50 MP, due to the quality the mechanism turns out to be good, and not as is usually the case in the inexpensive segment.
There is fast phase detection autofocus. The quality is not bad.
Works for a long time, which is great
The Infinix Zero 30 5G has a 5000mAh battery.
According to my tests, this is enough for 1.5-2 days of work with the phone at auto brightness and a refresh rate of 120 Hz (I don’t see the point in 144 Hz, because I don’t see any difference with the 120 Hz frequency).
Thanks to 68W fast charging, the smartphone can be charged from 0% to 100% in about 45-50 minutes. Of course, it charges up to 50% in about 25 minutes, and 20% can be charged in just over 5 minutes.
What’s the result? Of course I’ll take it
At a cost of 33-35 thousand rubles, Infinix Zero 30 5G provides most smartphones in the same price segment.
This is a beautiful smartphone with a powerful chip, good main and front power (there is even 4K60FPS video) and a 144 Hz screen.
Considering the current exchange rate, this is a more than adequate price for similar characteristics. Usually, for this money, manufacturers give discounts on fast work or screens, but here everything is done at a good level. IMHO, TOP for two money.
