Ozon has developed its own device to automatically measure the dimensions and weight of goods in logistics centers. It was created by the Ozon Tech team at Innopolis. The market’s press service spoke about this.
The device works faster than its foreign counterparts, the press service emphasizes. It takes no more than three seconds to determine the dimensions. Now the company has already implemented 20 machines in 16 logistics centers.
When calculating dimensions, the development uses camera images, computer vision technologies and machine learning algorithms. The device also recreates a 3D model of the object.
Workers measure dimensions manually, so errors appear from time to time. As a result, repeated measurements have to be taken, which slows down the entire workflow.
In the future, the company plans to equip all its warehouses with this type of device. Its implementation will help speed up the work of the centers and increase their efficiency.
