Sam Altman, co-founder and chairman of OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, was abruptly ousted as CEO. This decision caused harsh reactions among company employees and partners.
The situation began to develop on November 17, when OpenAI’s board of directors announced Altman’s dismissal. Negotiations regarding his return to duty followed, ultimately reaching an agreement on Altman’s return alongside company president Greg Brockman.
The new board of directors will include new members, including Microsoft representatives.
This turn of events took place almost a year after the launch of ChatGPT, which quickly became popular and sparked a race to create productive artificial intelligence tools.
Note that Twitch co-founder Emmet Shear, who replaced Altman, expressed a desire to slow the development of artificial intelligence.
The return of the company’s president may indicate that ChatGPT and other OpenAI developments will continue to advance rapidly, not limited by fears of individual setbacks.
