Foreign journalists have already released the first reviews of the long-awaited Tesla Cybertruck pickup truck.

Reviews were mixed, but mostly positive. The main complaint is the final cost.

What did they say about the electric car that they had been waiting for almost 5 years? Let’s figure it out.

1. MKBHD

Among the first to appear was the popular blogger Marques Brownlee from the MKBHD channel.

Brownlee was generally positive about the car. Opening the body, he said it was too smooth, and the rear trunk was roomy.

However, there is a minus in the trunk. When closed, it blocks rear visibility. There is no spare wheel, it is sold separately. There are three built-in chargers: two for 120 V and one for 240 V, the latter has the ability to charge another electric car and even at home.

From interesting observations: built-in bottle opener. The trunk lid opens and closes with a button.

By the way, there is also a front trunk. However, it is quite compact. Fits about one and a half to two medium-sized suitcases.

There are no door handles. The doors open by pressing a button under the counter approximately 90 degrees.

The body itself collects fingerprints very well. And because there are no handles, those who don’t know will often leave traces behind.

For the first time, Tesla has a front camera with a wide viewing angle. Works well at night.

As for the interior, it is quite empty. There is only a steering wheel and a touchpad. The most impressive thing here is the windshield, the largest ever produced.

To the right of the driver are two slots for wireless charging of smartphones, two cup holders, a huge armrest with storage display, and charging ports. Otherwise, it’s a standard Tesla.

The build quality leaves much to be desired. Many elements walk loose and flimsy. However, everything is recorded better here than in other Teslas.

The interior lighting can be changed via the touch panel. The tinted roof completely encloses the occupants, and there are no fins on any of the speaker grilles, which are either trapezoidal or square.

Rear passengers have plenty of legroom. There is a storage compartment on the back of the seat, but there is a lever on the side of the seat that allows you to raise the seat to reveal a large storage area underneath.

Rear passengers have a single 9-inch screen in the middle. You can use it to move the front passenger seat if it bothers you for some reason. Each passenger can smoothly adjust the level of seat heating.

As for the steering wheel, now in Tesla all the rear buttons have become physical. Previously, they were sensory with tactile feedback. The only company logo you’ll see on this truck is on the key card. Even the steering wheel features a miniature version of the Cybertruck.

A flashlight is provided for driving the car. It displays a three-dimensional model, each element of which can be clicked. Here you can adjust any part of the car, such as ride height, suspension operation, and so on. Even the glass does not turn off in the blink of an eye, following your finger on the 3D model.

There are three driving modes. They change the power, handling of an electric car and ride comfort.

Maximum steering wheel turns less than 180 degrees. There is no need to constantly intercept it. However, you need to get used to it.

About self-driving cars. Instant throttle response, about the same level of ride as any other Tesla. But there is a plus in the form of a short front end – you can literally see where the electric car ends, and this is very convenient.

The suspension is soft, but the peaks enter the corners harshly due to their angular shape. Instead of you being able to see everything that’s happening at any given time, the camera is always shown at the bottom of the display. This is especially useful when the rear trunk lid is closed.

The wipers look extremely ridiculous. And the blogger is not sure that the brushes are able to properly paint the entire windshield if there is ice or snow on it.

2. Hagerty

The Hagerty Driving Club also shared their views.

According to experts, the Cybertruck accelerates faster than a Porsche 911 or a 1000-horsepower Hummer EV – in 2.6 seconds from 0 to 96 km/h, which their test proved. At the same time, it accelerated so quickly “in the cold” on wet, uneven surfaced roads.

The new product has very high controllability. It may tip slightly to the side when turning very sharply, but nothing more. It’s really hard to turn over.

This is the first car to operate at 800V. This is not something new on the market, but Tesla has quadrupled the low voltage level in the “cybertack”. Everything that would work on 12 V runs on 48 V, which requires the use of less copper than in other electric trains.

There is no physical connection between the steering wheels and the front wheels. The front wheels are turned by a pair of redundant electric motors mounted on the steering rack, while the rear wheels are turned by a third mechanical motor.

The on-board computer interprets your request that you want to leave. And then decides that you need to turn the steering wheel a lot to get you there. Thus, it is not necessary, for example, to take into account a full turn of the steering wheel to make a sharp turn on the road. This car can easily handle even the picture course.

The stainless steel body gets dirty quickly, but even so it looks very impressive.

Despite excellent handling and a comfortable interior, this electric car is quite expensive. If it had cost $40 thousand, as originally promised, the attitude towards it would have been better.
