The head of the Ministry of Transport, Vitaly Savelyev, said that in 2024 the department hopes to launch automated passport control systems at two more airports in the city: the capital’s Vnukovo and Yekaterinburg’s Koltsovo. Previously, a similar system was installed in Sheremetyevo.
“To reduce the time of passing border control for the convenience of passengers at international airports, it is planned to implement an automated passport control system, which allows scanning and verifying all passport data in a specialized cabin without the participation of a border guard. “, TASS quotes Savelyev.
Automated scanning in the cabin allows passport control to be carried out in just 30-45 seconds and without the influence of the human factor.
Previously, the first deputy director of the Russian FSB, head of the border service, Vladimir Kulishov, mentioned that the automated system would be installed in at least six airports.
By 2030, it is planned to automate most checkpoints at customs: the development of a “smart checkpoint” model for all types of transport is already underway.
