If Earth had two moons, one of them might resemble Jupiter’s moon Io. It is known for the constant volcanic eruptions occurring on it. As a result, this will lead to frequent “starbursts”. And most likely the probability of collisions between Earth and meteors will increase.

Additionally, due to the presence of two moons, tides on Earth would be eight times stronger than they are now. And this is due to the peculiarities of the interaction of our planet with satellites.

In general, due to the simultaneous presence of two moons near the Earth, the illumination will become five times brighter. It will be possible to read books on the street at any time without additional lighting. Animals that are dependent on darkness will need to evolve ways to adapt to it.

The nature of eclipses will also change. For example, the dark zone will grow larger, causing sunlight to be completely blocked when a second satellite passes between the Earth and the Sun.

If there were two moons, the lunar cycle would be 10 days, not 29.5 days. And everything would happen so quickly that we could see the different phases of the second moon in one evening or one day.

Finally, it is likely that both moons will collide sooner or later.
