Many users are reporting that they can no longer log in to the app on their devices with this operating system, especially on versions 2.5.4 and above.
When they try to log in, they see the message “Something went wrong.” Those who are already logged in are in luck for now; they will be able to continue using Messenger until early 2025.
Owners of JioPhone, Nokia 2720 Flip, 2760 Flip, 6300 4G and other models suffered the most.
WhatsApp has removed the app from the KaiOS store, which will prevent new users from downloading it. Support and updates for Messenger on these phones are also ending, which could lead to security risks.
WhatsApp has not officially commented on the reasons for the decision.
