The first Efco Applied Research Center (ARC) in the Middle East has been inaugurated in Dubai. 3 million dollars were invested in the project, the company’s press service informed RB.RU.

Efco’s first applied research center inaugurated in the United Arab Emirates

The Center combines an R&D center and a biotechnology laboratory. This allows for the simultaneous development of new formulations and comprehensive scientific research. Specialists will be able to expand the range of plant-based meats and milks and study the potential of using sugar alternatives (sweet proteins) in various products.

Previously, Efco decided to supply healthy alternatives to sugar to businesses in the UAE. Investments in the project at that time amounted to one billion rubles.

One gram of sweet protein is equivalent in sweetness to 2 kg of normal sugar. At the same time, it does not cause an insulin response in the blood, which is important for those suffering from diabetes.
