VTOL autonomous aircraft developer Rotor Technologies has unveiled its largest drone ever, the R550X, based on the Robinson R44 Raven II. Declared characteristics: weight – 550 kg, maximum speed – 241 km/h, flight duration – more than three hours.

On-board avionics are designed for autonomous use in the sky in various areas of flight conditions, night time and limited visibility, the software is able to “anticipate” and prevent emergency situations.

The real R550X is an experimental device, not intended for passenger transport, but in accordance with FAA requirements, which can be used in agriculture, firefighting and maritime transport.

So far we are talking about assembling two helicopters at the enterprises of companies in New Hampshire, which are harvesting. Rotor Technologies’ latest technology is designed to double FAA semi-certification in the future of passenger transportation. The R550X is a bit unnecessary and not suitable for company, but it is what it is. No, we see that this is what needs to be done – and what is so important, in volume.
