The alleged new features of One UI 6.1 were leaked on X, formerly known as Twitter, last weekend. Samsung’s next operating system update introduces artificial intelligence (AI) tools, utilities for the Samsung Notes app, and more battery-saving functions.

One UI 6.1 will be the first major update to Samsung’s newest operating system. The company must:will deliver its first news powered by generative artificial intelligence, some even inherited from Pixel 8.

Vehicles with productive artificial intelligence

One of the most interesting additions are wallpapers created by artificial intelligence. The tool allows you to create backgrounds for your home or lock screen based on a text description in a few seconds.

The lock screen should also get new features. According to the information source, the user will be able to customize the section with portrait or weather effects.

AI tools will also be available in the native image editor. Templates can be used to relocate scene elements or expand a photo beyond its original frame.

One UI 6.1's editing tool can render the edges of an image using artificial intelligence.

Image editing allows you to move objects from one image to another more easily. Touch and hold the item, drag it to the file you want, and drop it in the desired location.

Auto formatting

The Samsung Notes app can automatically format blocks of plain text into a list. The function is called “Autoformatting” and is even compatible with text written with SPen.

Call your translator

One interesting new feature of One UI 6.1 should be the automatic translation tool for searches. The function uses AI Gaussian to adapt the chat in real time.

The automatic translation tool helps eliminate the language barrier in voice search.

Advanced battery protection

Samsung’s next update will also offer more battery protection options. The package will contain three alternatives to protect the component:

  • Adaptive Protection: keeps the battery charged at 80% overnight, but releases it for a full charge shortly before you wake up;
  • Maximum protection: Keeps the mobile phone charged at 80% during charging;
  • Basic protection: When the battery reaches 100%, the mobile phone will stop charging until it reaches 95% charge.

These solutions aim to save charge cycle consumption, which is one of the causes of wear of modern lithium-ion batteries.

The battery saver feature now offers three different options.

Samsung will test One UI 6.1

It appears that One UI 6.1 is already being tested by Samsung. Firmware version S918NKSU2ZWX2 for the Galaxy S23 Ultra was found on the company’s servers, and since the model is already on One UI 6, the update may just be an update.

For now, there is no prediction that the update will be released, but it is possible that Samsung will offer the update with the Galaxy S24 series planned for January 2024.
