Artificial intelligence will help create the new Russian Orbital Station (ROS), but the main work will still be done by people. This was explained by Vladimir Kozhevnikov, chief designer of ROS and deputy general designer of Energia Rocket and Space Corporation. “AI is developing rapidly and will help us, but the main work will remain in our brains,” he said.

The head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, approved the program for the creation of ROS. A science and energy module is planned to be commissioned in 2027, and a universal node, gateway and core modules will be added by 2030. From 2031 to 2033, the station will be expanded with two more target modules. Contracts have also been signed for the creation of the station itself and the space complex, which will include a new manned spacecraft and the Angara rocket.

The overall program includes flight tests of the new ship, the creation of launch vehicles and ground infrastructure, as well as the work of scientific institutes. Artificial intelligence will be used as support, but humans will remain the key implementers of the project.
