Yandex re-registered apps on the App Store and Google Play with a new provider in Serbia, Vedomosti noted. The company did not mention the exact date of the transfer or what it was related to. Lawyers believe that registration in Belgrade will help the company avoid EU sanctions.
The company’s main applications in the ridetech and e-commerce segments (Yandex Drive, Yandex Food, Yandex Go, Yandex Market, etc.) have been transferred to Serbian suppliers.
In application stores, companies themselves transfer their solutions from one provider to another, there is no need to involve a store for this, explained Maxim Kazantsev, lead mobile developer at EvApps. The main Serbian legal entity of the company is Yandex.Technologies Belgrade.
The IT giant opened its first office in Belgrade last summer and in March 2023 decided to open a second. Yandex was planning to expand in Italy, but local authorities did not allow them to move their employees there and asked them to reduce their staff, the sources said at the time.
