The Beeper Mini developers are back with a new idea to bring iMessage support back to Android. The service’s authors ask users to generate their iMessage login information using a jailbroken iPhone.

Beeper encourages users to buy/find an old iPhone to make iMessage work on their Android smartphone. To do this, you need to install the free Beeper tool to register the iMessage registration code, which makes it possible to register phone numbers in the service. However, for the feature to work, the iPhone must first be locked, and it must remain connected to power and Wi-Fi for periodic re-enrollment requests.

If users don’t have access to an old jailbroken iPhone to complete the registration process, that’s okay—Beeper rents them out for a small monthly fee. The developers say the service will be available next year if there is enough interest.
