According to Savelyev, Russia continues to strengthen its leadership in this field thanks to the most powerful icebreaker of the new generation, Project 22 220, which includes the Arktika, Ural and Sibir ships with a capacity of 60 MW each.
However, all seven icebreakers in various stages of construction are under the supervision of the Russian Maritime Register. The Minister noted that these include the leading nuclear icebreaker of Project 10 510 “Leader” with a capacity of 120 MW, the foundation of which was laid in 2021.
