Collection by the Russian authorities of the excess profits tax introduced in 2023 for large companies amounted to 315 billion rubles. This amount is 5% higher than the expectations of the Ministry of Finance, said the head of the department, Anton Siluanov.
Earlier this summer, Vladimir Putin signed a law on a tax on excessive profits for companies. These are organizations that in 2021-2022 made an average profit of more than one billion rubles.
Payment must be made before January 28, 2024, in which case the tax will be 10% of the excess profit. For those who made their contribution before November 30, the rate was reduced to 5%.
“The budget included 300 billion rubles, today this figure is 315 billion rubles. The federal budget has already received money from this tax,” Siluanov told Rossiya 24 television channel.
He added that most companies decided to make their contributions in advance so that the rate does not exceed 5%.
