According to the study, not only are business travelers staying in hotels more frequently, but business demand for five-star accommodation has increased by a quarter (23%) year on year.
The most popular business travel destinations in 2023
The cities with the most popular hotel infrastructure are traditionally Moscow and St. Petersburg. Business tourists stayed in hotels in the capital 68% more frequently than the previous year.
Demand for hotels in St. Petersburg increased by 10%. The top 10 included Krasnoyarsk (8% more often), Nizhny Novgorod (+50% by 2022), Vladivostok (+33% YoY), Yekaterinburg (+10% by 2022), Novosibirsk (+21% YoY). in the year ).

The highest average cost per night was recorded in Sochi: 7.4 rubles per room (+15% year-on-year). The southern city is followed by St. Petersburg, with an average accommodation cost of 6.7 thousand rubles (+12% until 2022) per night. How Russian business tourists traveled in 2023
On average, Russians stayed two nights on business trips (the same as last year). About half (40% of business tourists) stayed in four-star hotels. A third of the nights were booked in three-star hotels.
Only 9% of travelers stayed in five-star hotels. However, compared to last year, this is an increase of 23%.

In 2023, 20% of business travelers stayed in uncategorized properties, especially apartments and apartments. Growth was 40% during the year, and the jump occurred in IV (demand doubled).

Who took business trips most frequently?
Representatives of the retail trade stayed in hotels during work trips 34% more often than in 2022. Representatives of the mining and manufacturing industries took work trips with hotel reservations 27% more often, and those in IT and telecommunications, 53%.
At the same time, a quarter of employee bookings at IT and telecommunications companies were for rooms in five-star hotels. But most often, IT specialists chose four-star hotels.
Retail representatives stayed most frequently in four- and three-star hotels, accounting for 37% and 36% of nights.
Representatives of the mining, manufacturing and energy industries stayed in four-star hotels in 38% of cases and in uncategorized accommodation establishments in 26% of cases.
