SK hynix takes Sony’s lead by offering technology that improves speed and efficiency by processing data directly on the sensor chip. According to the latest data, a face and object recognition function is being developed using artificial intelligence accelerators in the image sensor itself.

Samsung Electronics is also rapidly incorporating artificial intelligence into its business. This year, the company introduced a 200-megapixel image sensor with advanced zoom called Zoom Anyplace, which uses artificial intelligence to automatically track objects in close-up shots. Samsung has set a long-term business goal of commercializing “humanoid sensors” that can detect and replicate human emotions, and has laid out a roadmap to develop image sensors that can capture even the invisible by 2027.

These strategic moves could help them capture a larger share of the growing market and perhaps challenge Sony’s dominance.
