MTS has closed a deal to acquire the Yurent scooter rental service. The operator increased its presence in the company’s capital from 11.77% to 80.58% by purchasing a stake from the co-founders. The service team, including management, will continue to work for the company.
MTS has closed a deal to acquire short-term scooter rental service Yurent. This was reported by the MTS press service.
The telecom operator already owned a 11.77% stake in Yurent; Now its presence in the company’s capital has expanded to 80.58%. The shares were purchased from the co-founders of Yurent, MTS clarified.
“The final amount of payments to sellers will be determined by the company’s results in 2024-2025,” the MTS press service said.
The Yurent team, including CEO Ivan Turinge, will continue to work at the company.
“According to our forecasts, until 2027 the market for kick-sharing and other types of micromobility in the country could grow almost three times to reach 60 billion rubles,” said Maxim Laptev, head of the digital products unit at MTS.
According to its own data, Yurent has a fleet of 100 thousand electric scooters. The service is presented in 124 cities in Russia.
